The IRMOS Application Blueprint

Recently, IRMOS has published a crucial document, the IRMOS Application Blueprint, which serves as a reference guide for application developers. This document contains all the critical information that is needed in order for an application to be adapted on the IRMOS framework, a Service Oriented platform that allows both for interactivity but also for QoS guarantees across a virtualized infrastructure. For this adaptation, all the different steps are described, from creating a distributed version of an existing application, managing the different issues with software packaging but most importantly for describing components and applications in order for them to be automatically deployed to the platform. For the last action, necessary tools are developed within IRMOS that will facilitate this description and will prepare the application for adaptation in the platform. The usage of these tools is also briefly described and necessary references are provided for further reading. Furthermore, necessary interfaces that need to be implemented for the application to interact with the core platform and infrastructure features are described in order for the latter to be able to manipulate the former in the framework of virtualized resources.
